Do you want me to describe it part by part to see it's all totally wonderful?
OK, let's start from the lower, the older part: the sea, the remnants of an old pier: the dying past.
Then, the ships: children of technical progress but still full of romantics and adventure: the struggling present.
And then, the buildings: the faceless, imponent, all-devouring, all-business progress: yet colourful enough to look good in the picture, but still and already-dead future.
Add the perfect title like The song of the cormorant unheard (the song of the unseen cormorant unheard!).
And you get a total wonder.

Thanks again! :) The blotchiness is part of the plan - I wanted the buildings bright pastel and lively, and the more natural foreground dark and somewhat daunting, just to reverse the cliché :)

Love this shot BBK! The posts in the water seem like people almost somehow or just really sit well in the composition and i love the coloring, of course :) The ship to the right is really a great part of the composition. Truly a great shot! I would buy this! :):)

I am seriously, solemnly happy you like it Mr JMH :happybounce: And you really want a materialized copy of it? You're not joshin'? :wow: Well, how do we do that? I guess I'll ask you what size you have in mind and in case it's larger than what I have uploaded here I go check if I have the proper resolution in store, right? :):):)

Oh I seriously got a jolt in the stomach upon first seeing it! No Joshin whatsoever :) I'm a big fan of NYC and that shot just really does it for me :)

I'm not sure what determines what sizes are available. but you're probably right about resolution..I've noticed sometimes not all sizes are available when I press the print button doodad..:) But I'll see what size you've got and go from there? :)

Ah, I'm still over the moon, interesting thing somehow to "share" an idea or sentiment, a moment actually, via a picture ... :D Size-wise it's not all that giant because I cropped the original (the sky didn't make sense to me) so what's left would be good enough (with the recommended resolution of 150 DPI) to print 15x15 inches maximum, which is almost 40x40 cm and that sounds actually huuuuge to me :D

Yeah, that's not a bad size..but I could really imagine it in poster size, for instance :) It's such a great awesome shot :) It might be my age too..just something kinda 70's about it? Don't know..maybe it's just your color palette that always moves me :)

Sorry, I was not here, completely absorbed in real life and those vague signs of spring we got to see last weekend ... Something kinda 70's? Maybe some of my universal flower power nostalgia slipped into the paintbox here :) I just uploaded the largest version I have, it least I think I did ... not really sure what happened. Whatever works ... :)

perhaps the unheard song of the cormorant goes somewhat like this:
:iconcailenbirdplz::iconmusicnotesplz:
What is it about this city, that brings us all to life
Ten millions souls vibrating,
They're shimmering in the night

Where do all the lonely people go,
When they want some lovin'
Where do all the lonely people hide, when they feel like cryin'
Where do all the lonely people go, in this crowded city
Where do all the lonely people hide, there's no sanctuary

Nowhere to run to, nowhere to hide
Nowhere to handshake, nowhere to smile
………

Where do all the lonely people go, in this crowded city
Where do all the lonely people hide, there's no sanctuary
(City Song - Howard Jones)

Yep, that's me! I noticed you changed it from Hudson to East River. I was at the Hudson, so nevermind. But I live across the East River from Manhattan.
